BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College men's soccer coach Tyler Brock has announced that Rasid Smajlovic has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the Bulldog program in time for preseason camp in August.
Smajlovic, a native of Louisville, Ky., prepped at Seneca High School in the city. He's also clubbed with United 1996 FC, scoring six goals and adding 16 assists at midfield during the 2013 club season. Smajlovic plans to play in the midfield when he joins the Bulldog program.
"When Rasid visited our campus, he was able to train with the team, and I really feel he will fit in nicely with our style of play," said Brock. "He seems to be a very knowledgable player that is very confident in his ability. He is comfortable going forward out of the midfield, and is very confident in his ability to change fields and support play.
"We are very eager to work with Rasid and help him develop over his next four years here at Union."
Rasid is the son of Mehmedalija and Hasija Smajlovic. He is undecided on a major.
The Bulldogs kick-off their 2013 season on Aug. 30, hosting Emmanuel (Ga.) as part of the 2013 Thomas Trammel Memorial Classic.
