KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Reinhardt (Ga.) pitcher Maddie Monroe tossed a no-hitter, as the top-seeded and eighth-ranked Lady Eagles topped the Union College softball team, 5-0, at the 2013 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament.

With the loss, UC fell to 13-29 and into the losers bracket of the AAC Tournament, where they will take on fourth-seed Columbia on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in an elimination game. Reinhardt went to 38-4 with the victory.

Reinhardt jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the contest after a pair of home runs in the bottom of the first, then scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to go up five. The run support was more than enough for Monroe, who rolled through the Lady Bulldog line-up all game to move to 22-0 on the year.

In all, Monroe struck out 13 batters, and allowed just a lead-off walk to Ashley Wojnowski in the top of the first inning, Monroe retired 20 straight batters, and preserved the no-hitter after getting Jamie Cyrus to strike out with two outs in the top of the seventh.

For UC, Katie Perkins (8-11) was the loser. For more information on the 2013 AAC Tournament, click here
