BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College baseball team dropped a pair of games to No. 4 Faulkner (Ala.) Saturday afternoon at Jerry Carey Stadium, losing game one, 5-1, and game two, 3-0.

With the losses, the Bulldogs fell to 27-20, while Faulkner improved to 40-10 with the victories.

Before the first game, the Union College program honored eight seniors for their contributions to the program. They were: Ben Hartley, Travis Kottenbrock, Gabby Juarbe, Kyle Williams, Drew Hillard, Tyler Brake, Jordan Mynear, and Jacob Janutolo.

Game One

In the first game, Faulkner jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, and never looked backed, using strong pitching to post the four-run win.

Union scored their lone run of the contest in the fourth, as a Brake RBI single scored LaVance Anderson with two outs. However, the Bulldogs recorded just four hits in the first game against the Faulkner pitching duo of starter Johnny Shuttlesworth and reliever Julian Esquibel.

Shuttlesworth (10-1) earned the win, giving up three hits in five innings of work with five strikeouts, while Esquibel earned the first save of his season in four innings of shutout relief work. For UC, starter Hiilard (3-4) was the loser.

Game Two

In the second game, Faulkner once again leaped out to a first inning lead, and never looked back, as the Bulldog offense was stymied once again by the Eagle pitching staff.

In the first, Faulkner got on the board with two runs off of UC starter Luke Collis to go up 2-0. The lead was more than enough for Eagle pitchers Will Dismukes and Brad Griffis to work with, as the Bulldogs mustered just three hits on the pair in the contest.

Dismukes (9-1) earned the win on the mound, striking out nine in five innings of work, while Griffis tossed two innings of shutout ball to earn the save (3). Collis (5-3) was the hard luck loser in the contest, as he allowed just the pair of runs in the first, four hits, and struck out four.
