BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Four members of the Union College men's soccer team are set to play in semi-professional leagues this summer.

Two Bulldogs will play for the Louisville River City Rovers of the Premier Developmental League in Callum Tychowski and Dino Sefer, while Joe Butcher will play on another member team of the PDL, the Michigan Bucks.

Jonathan Watson rounds out the group, as he will join the Gulf Coast Texans of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).

"This is a great opportunity for these guys to play with some of best players in the country," said head men's soccer coach Tyler Brock. "I really feel these kinds of opportunities can open doors for them play elsewhere once they graduate from college.

"It gives them another platform to showcase their skill set, while keeping them sharp during our offseason. We have big plans for these guys next year when our preseason starts in August, and these kinds of opportunities are just a springboard for these individuals to be help lead our program into a positive future."

Last season, Sefer, Butcher, and Watson were all key contributors for the Bulldogs.

Watson, who will be entering his junior season this fall, was an All-AAC selection at midfeld in 2012, scoring 12 goals to lead the Bulldogs. Butcher, who is a senior, also earned a spot on the All-AAC team after recording 12 assists, also a team high. Sefer, meanwhile, scored three goals and added an assist in just eight matches played on the year.

Tychowski redshirted the 2012 season for UC, but looks to contribute from the start in 2013. He transferred into Union before last season from Burlington Community College, where he led the team to a National Ranking, and was an All-Conference and All-Region JUCO selection.

Sending players to semi-professional and professional leagues has been the norm for the Bulldog program the last few years.

In all, UC has sent sent over 25 players to the PDL, USL, A League, the Canadian Soccer League, and several professional indoor leagues. One player, Derek Smith, was signed by the Columbus Crew of the MLS in 2005.
