ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College's Frantzy Sejour and Christa Hicks were named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's men's and women's field athletes of the week, respectively, the league announced on Monday.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs opened the 2013 portion of their outdoor schedule this past Friday at the Mount St. Joseph's (Ohio) Invitational, as both teams placed ninth overall in the event.

Sejour, a senior, opened up the outdoor season in impressive fashion, setting a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 0.75 inches to place third overall in the event The third place finish was the best on the day for the Bulldogs.

Hicks, also a senior, registered the best mark on the day for the Lady Bulldogs, placing fifth in the high jump with a leap of four feet, seven inches. Hicks also finished seventh in the long jump with a 14 foot, 11.5 inch effort.

The Union College men's and women's track & field teams return to action on Saturday at the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Meet.
