CINCINNATI - The Union College men's and women's track & field teams opened the 2013 portion of their outdoor schedule on Friday at the 2013 Mount St. Joseph's Invitational. 

Overall, both the men's and women's teams placed ninth overall in the event.

For the men, Frantzy Sejour registered the best finish of the day for the Bulldogs in an event, placing third in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 0.75 inches, which was a personal best. Teammate Dalton Whitney finished right behind Sejour in the event, after he recorded a 19 foot, seven inch leap. Whitney also had a high finish in the triple jump, finishing second with a 40 foot effort.

Other top finishes for the men were recorded by William White, who placed fifth in the javelin with a personal best effort of 132 feet, three inches, and ninth in the shot put (41 feet, 1.5 inches). Several other student-athletes also had personal bests in events, as Danny Trauth posted a 25 foot, 11.75 inch throw in the javelin, and Matt Francis did the same in two event - the discus (116 feet, 10.75 inches) and hammer throw (107 feet, 8.5 inches).

For the women, Kayse Cornett smashed a outdoor program record in the hammer throw (71 feet, 6.5 inches), while Christa Hicks had the highest finish of the day for the Lady Bulldogs in the high jump, placing fifth with a four foot, seven inch effort. On the track, Feiarra Foster had the teams highest finish, crossing the finish line in eighth in 14.20.

The Union College men's and women's track & field teams return to action on Saturday at the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Meet.
