BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College women's swimming coach Rafael Forti has announced that Emily Cagle recently signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Lady Bulldog program.

Cagle, a native of Independence, Ky., plans to swim breaststroke when she joins the team in the fall.

"I am happy to have Emily joining our program," said Forti. "She presents a tremendous potential in short distance events, especially breaststroke. Not only that, she will have the chance of practicing every day with some of the best breaststrokers in the nation, and this will really help her a lot. She will add much needed depth to our breaststroke events and she will provide much more flexibility in our team line-up."

Cagle prepped at Simon Kenton High School, while participating on the SK Swim & Dive Club. At Simon Kenton, Cagle was the girls swim team's 2012-13 captain, helping the team win the Kenton County Team Championship in the sport. Cagle also swam a leg on 200 and 400 free relay teams that broke school records, as well.

Cagle is the daughter of Steven & Christine Cagle.
