OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Union College men's swimming team is in seventh overall, while the women's team moved up into a tie eighth, after the second night of competition for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs at the 2013 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships Friday.

The event is being held at the Oklahoma City Community College.

For the men, the best finish of the night was recorded by Vinicius Rossi, who placed third in the 100-breast with a time of 55.77, a new school record in the event. With the third place finish, Rossi earned both NAIA and CSCAA First Team All-American honors in the 100-breast for the second straight season.

In the same event, Luis Ambrosio finished a few places behind Rossi in sixth, hitting the wall in 57.37 to earn CSCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors in the event for the second consecutive season. Meanwhile, in the 100-back, Louis Glavinos Jr. also notched CSCAA Honorable Mention honors for the second straight season in a event with a fifth place finish (51.35).

In other action individually for the men, Travis Strachan earned another CSCAA Honorable Mention All-American honor for UC with a seventh place finish in the 100-fly (50.87, a new school record). Yan Rocha (1:42.26) and Martino Cervera (1:44.71) finished 11th and 15th, respectively, in the 200-free, while Cameron Brewer rounded out the men who competed in finals on the night with a 16th place finish in the 100-back (55.11).

In relays, the Bulldogs 200-free relay team placed eighth in 1:24.77 to earn the program another CSCAA Honorable Mention All-American honor. The UC men finished off the evening with a fifth place finish in the 400-medley relay (3:25.32) to earn the last CSCAA Honorable Mention award of the night.

In both relay events, the Bulldogs set new school records with their finishes.

For the women, Kasey McCormick registered the best performance of the Championships to date for the Lady Bulldogs, earning CSCAA Honorable Mention honors with a fifth place finish in the 100-breast (1:07.79). Meanwhile in the 100-back, Lexus Thompson finished 10th overall with a time of 1:00.43.

In Lady Bulldog relays, the 200-free relay squad placed eighth in 1:41.53 for CSCAA Honorable Mention honors, while the 400-medley relay team placed seventh (4:06.33) to collect the last CSCAA Honorable Mention award on the night for the Lady Bulldogs.

Action concludes tomorrow at the NAIA Swimming & Diving Championships, with preliminary competition beginning at 11 p.m. (EST).
