OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Union College men's swimming team sits in a tie for seventh, while the women's team is in ninth after the first night of competition for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs at the 2013 NAIA Swimming & Diving National Championships.

The event is being held at the Oklahoma City Community College.

On the night, Union had their highest finishes in men's team relay events, earning All-American honors in both events contested on the evening.

First in the 200-medley relay, the Bulldogs hit the wall in 1:31.85 to finish third overall, breaking a program record in the event. With the third place finish, the squad earned both NAIA and CSCAA First Team All-American honors, marking the first time in program history a Bulldog relay team has earned NAIA All-American honors.

UC followed up that finish with a fourth place finish in the 800-free relay (6:52.81) to earn CSCAA First Team All-American honors in that event for the first time. The mark also smashed a school-record in the event, as well.

Individually on the night for the men, Travis Strachan qualified for the finals of the 50-free and finished 15th overall in 21.46. Yan Rocha also earned a spot in the 500-free finals, finishing 11th in 4:47.53.

For the women, UC's 200-medley relay team placed seventh overall in 1:50.27 (for CSCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors), while the 800-free relay squad hit the wall in 8:10.38 to finish ninth. Individually, Lexus Thompson earned a spot in the finals of the 200-IM, and finished 16th (2:15.70).
