LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Union men's and women's bowling teams competed at the 2013 Thomas N. Burris Memorial Kentucky Collegiate Classic on Sunday with the Bulldogs placing 10th and the Lady Bulldogs coming in eighth.

The tournament was held at Eastland Lanes and Lexington, Ky.

In the men's competition, Union racked up a total pinfall of 6,217 to place 10th out of 12. Morehead State (Ky.) won the event with an 8,017 pinfall. Pikeville (Ky.) and Louisville (Ky.) were second and third, respectively, at 7,136 and 7,099.

The Bulldogs placed two bowlers in the top 20 with Keith Venis (Greenwood, Ind.) coming in 12th and Joey Davenport (Delaware, Ohio) taking 16th. Venis rolled a total of 1,013 with a three-game score of 624. Davenport had a total pinfall of 992 with a 576 three-game score.

The Lady Bulldogs posted a team score of 5,889 to come in eighth out of 11 teams. Pikeville won with a score of 6,954, while Bethel (Tenn.) rolled a 6.679 to place second. Morehead State was third at 6.403.

Individually, Christy King (Cookeville, Tenn.) led the Lady Bulldogs with a 27th-place finish. She posted a total pinfall of 811 and a three-game score of 523. Katelynn George (Crowley, Texas) took 29th place with an 803 pinfall and a three-game score of 510.

The Union bowling teams will next compete at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday and Sunday.
