MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - Host Milligan (Tenn.) used a strong surge to open the second half to claim a 75-63 Appalachian Athletic Conference win over Union on Wednesday.

Tied at 32-32 at the half, the Buffaloes (20-8 overall, 13-2 AAC) used a 15-4 run to race out to a 47-36 advantage following a pair of Kayla Kelly free throws with 15:18 remaining. From that point on, Union (16-9 overall, 9-6 AAC) never really threatened. Milligan led by as much as 16, carrying a 58-42 cushion with 10:18 remaining. The Lady Bulldogs cut the deficit to nine following back-to-back buckets from Lindsey Waters to make it 63-54 at the 5:28 mark. But Union could get no closer while Milligan held strong for the 12-point victory.

Waters paced Union with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Haley Perkins and Amber Taylor added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Milligan's Johneshia Good led all scorers with 17 points with Kelly and Tracy Hardiman each following with 14 points. Kelly also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jaimee Hill and Dorian Freeman contributed 13 points apiece.

The Buffaloes led for much of the first half, but play was close throughout. Three times Milligan led by as much as seven, but Union used a 14-3 run late in the period to seize its first lead of the game at 29-28 with 2:27 remaining. The Lady Bulldogs led 32-30 with under a minute to go, but Good drained a basket to send the game into the break knotted at 32-32.

Union returns to action Saturday when it visits Columbia (S.C.) in another AAC contest. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
