MOREHEAD, Ky. - NCAA Division-I member Morehead State (Ky.) opened up a big first half lead, and never looked back, on their way to a 114-67 victory over the Union College men's basketball team on Sunday afternoon at Johnson Arena. The game was an exhibition contest for UC.

In the first half, the Bulldogs took a lead very early on at 5-4 after Tyler Wagner drained a three at the 18 minute mark. A few moments later, Morehead State took the lead, proceeding to never give it up the rest of the afternoon.

Union was within striking distance of the lead over the first four minutes, as they trailed by just four (12-8) at the under-16 timeout after a Wagner made free throw. Here, the Eagles began to distance themselves from the Bulldogs, eventually opening up a 27-12 lead at the 10-minute mark.

After Union cut the lead down to 10 points (27-17) with 9:54 left in the period on a Deante Johnson lay-in, Morehead State went on a 10-0 run to go up 20 points (37-17) with six minutes left. From there, the Eagles continued to hold a big lead, and went into the half up 55-32 over the Bulldogs.

In the second half, Morehead State extended the lead out to 30 points (62-32) two minutes into the half, and never looked back the rest of regulation, on their way to a home win.

Overall for the Bulldogs, Wagner led the way, scoring a game-high 24 points on some hot shooting from outside the arc, as he went 7-of-10 from three point range. The other double-digit scorer for Union was Johnson, who had 14 points, while pulling down nine rebounds and recording five blocks.

Morehead State was led in the win by Drew Kelly and Milton Chavis, who scored 15 points, apiece.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, traveling to Reinhardt (Ga.) to resume AAC play. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
