BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College's Sergio Gonzalez poured in a game-high 32 points, as the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half on their way to a 113-83 victory over West Virginia Parkersburg on Tuesday night at Robsion Arena. 

With the victory, the Bulldogs moved to 3-1 on the year, while WVU-P fell to 1-1 with the loss.

At the half, West Virginia Parkersburg went on a bit of a run to end the first period, cutting a UC nine-point lead (44-35) down to four at 44-40 after the Riverhawks went on a 5-0 run to end the first half. 

To start the second half, however, the Bulldogs got back on track and effectively put the game away. In the first four minutes, UC went on a 17-3 run to go up 61-47. The Bulldogs then pulled away, opening up a 20-point lead (71-51) at the 14-minute mark, and eventually an insurmountable 30-point lead (87-57) with under 10 minutes left.

From there, the Bulldogs rolled, going over the century mark in a game that ended in regulation for the first time since a 109-100 victory over Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Nov. 13, 2010. In the second half, Union outscored West Virginia Parkersburg 69-43.

Overall, Gonzalez posted his big night on 11-of-16 shooting from the field, including a scorching 5-of-7 evening from outside the arc. He also pulled down six rebounds, dished out three assists, and made two steals.

Other Bulldogs to post double-digit nights were Tarik Smith, who had 28 points, and Matthew Thomas, who chipped in with 11 points. West Virginia Parkersburg was led in the loss by Darius Jenkins who had 23 points.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday evening, traveling to Brescia (Ky.). Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. eastern.
