ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College goalie Stephanie Burton has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 4, the league announced today. 

With today's announcement, Burton has now been named the AAC's Defensive Player of the Week three times on the 2012 season, capturing the award on Sept. 3 and Oct. 15, as well. 

This past Saturday, Burton paced the UC defense to a 1-0  victory over Reinhardt (Ga.) in a 2012 AAC Women's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinal contest. In all, Burton made four saves in the victory, three of which came in the second half to preserve the shutout win for the Lady Bulldogs. The shutout  victory was Burton's fifth of the season.

For the year, Burton has made 87 saves, and notched a goals against average of 1.52.

Burton and the rest of the Lady Bulldogs now await an AAC Tournament Semifinal matchup at top-seeded Montreat (N.C.) on Thursday. Things get underway at 2 p.m.
