PINEVILLE, Ky. - Garrett Bradley and Thomas Scott each fired a 73 during the first round of the Bulldog Invite to help lift the Union men's golf team to an eight-stroke lead Monday.
The tournament is being held at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Ky.
Union compiled a first-round score of 300 to put it up eight strokes over second-place Spalding (Ky.). Pikeville (Ky.) is close behind in third at 309, while Asbury (Ky.) sits in fourth with a 319. Cumberlands (Ky.) is fifth with a 322, while Union's B team is sixth with a 346.
Bradley and Scott's 73 was good enough to tie them for third overall as Pikeville's Tim Miller shot a 69 to lead the field. Hunt Lenz of Spalding is second with a 71, and Tim Cooper of Union rounds out the top five with a 74.
Also helping the Bulldogs out was Bradley Sharkey, who posted a 77 to place in a tie for eighth.
Second round play will get underway Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
