BEREA, Ky. - The Union College men's and women's swimming teams put up a dominating performance in a dual meet at Berea (Ky.) on Saturday, winning all 21 swimming events contested.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs posted a 149-38 win, while the women's team was victorious 83-62 over Berea. In all, 14 NAIA National Qualifying Cuts were achieved in the meet, as well. 

"It was a very productive day in the pool for us," said head coach Rafael Forti. "We were able to observe most of our swimmers in events that, traditionally, are not their main ones. The results were very positive.

"We can see much progress in some areas of our swimming since our first meet, and I like the direction we are headed to."

For the women, the Lady Bulldogs got things going with an "A" cut time of 4:20.63 in the 400-medley relay. In that relay, Lexus Thompson recorded a "B" cut of her own, leading off with a solid time in the 100-back. Thompson also recorded a "B" cut in the 400-IM with a time of 5:08.32.

Other top finishes for the Lady Bulldogs were posted by Renata Cabral, who notched an "A" cut in the 100-fly in 1:00.25, and a "B" cut in the 100-breast in 1:12.71. The Lady Bulldogs finished the day off with an "A" cut time in the 200-free relay, hitting the wall in 1:45.71.

For the men's team, they started in the 400-medley relay with an "A" cut mark of 3:40.81. In the relay, Louis Glavinos Jr. recorded a "B" cut in the 100-back.

Individually, Travis Strachan recorded three qualifying marks on the afternoon. In the 200-free, he hit the wall in 1:49.86 to notch a "B" cut, in the 100-free he had an "A" cut in 47.45, and in the 100-free, he recorded a "B" cut in the 50-free portion of the race. 

Meanwhile, Martino Cervera had an "A" cut in the 200-free with a time of 1:46.69, and Yan Rocha recorded a "B" cut with a finish of 22.31 in the 50-free. The Bulldogs finished the day off with an "A" cut time of 1:34.42 in the 200-free relay.

Union is back in action on Nov. 3 when they host their first match of the year at the Stivers Aquatic Center against Asbury (Ky.) and Bethel (Tenn.).
