BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore midfielder Aline Dalmedico scored two second half goals, as the Union College women's soccer team pulled away from Point (Ga.) in a 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Burch/Nau Field on Saturday.

With the win, UC moved to 7-3-1 overall, 4-1-1 in the AAC, while Point fell to 2-6-2, 0-7-1 in the AAC with the defeat.

In the first half, the Lady Bulldogs got on the board quickly, as Jenn Sckirl scored, unassisted, in the seventh minute to give UC an early 1-0 lead. The goal was the first of the season for Sckirl.

For the rest of the period, the Lady Bulldogs used strong defense to shut down the Point attack, and went into the locker room at halftime leading the match, 1-0.

In the second half, it stayed that way for more than 35 minutes, despite UC taking numerous shots on net. In the 80th minute, the Lady Bulldogs finally scored the go-ahead goal to go up 2-0, with Dalmedico scoring on an assist from Kayse Cornett. The assist for Cornett was her first of the season. Union put the match away 6 minutes and 47 seconds later, as Dalmedico scored her second goal on an assist from Helen Weber.

The two-goal performance for Dalmedico increased her season goal scoring total to nine, while Weber collected her fourth assist of the season on the last goal of the contest.

Overall, Union outshot Point by a wide margin of 31-13, and held a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks. In net, Stephanie Burton collected the shutout win, making four saves in between the pipes for UC in 90 minutes of action.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the pitch on Wednesday when they travel to Georgetown (Ky.) for an out-of-conference affair. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
