COLUMBIA, S.C. - A quartet of Lady Bulldogs posted double-digit kills as the Union volleyball team posted a 3-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over host Columbia (S.C.) on Friday.

Union took an early 2-0 match lead by winning the first two sets 25-15, 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs came close to sweeping the match, but the Koalas overcame a 23-21 deficit to win the third set 27-25. The back-and-forth play continued in the fourth set as it was tied at 21-21. Union, though, won four of the final five points to take the set 25-22 and the match 3-1.

With the win, Union improves to 10-12 overall and 6-3 in the AAC. Columbia is now 11-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

Cat Neumann led the Lady Bulldogs with a season-high 14 kills with Caity Merritt following with 13. Christa Hicks and Paige Moore helped out with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Heather Fields recorded 19 assists, while Gabrielle Kelly and Brooke Porter contributed 18 and 15 digs, respectively. 

For Columbia, Tara Prater led the way with 13 kills.

Union returns to action Saturday when it pays St. Andrews (N.C.) a visit. The AAC match is set to start at 1 p.m.
