WALESKA, Ga. - A golden goal by Reinhardt's (Ga.) Paul Dudson in the second overtime won it, as the Eagles took a 2-1 win over the Union College men's soccer team on Saturday in Appalachian Athletic Conference action.

With the loss, Union fell to 2-4 overall, 0-2 in the AAC, while Reinhardt improved to 2-4-2, 1-1 in the AAC with the victory.

"I'm so proud of our guys," said head coach Tyler Brock. "Reinhardt took advantage of an opportunity they created in the second overtime to win it. My hats off to [Reinhardt]. It's a heartbreaker for us, but our guys played hard all night. There were a lot of positives we can take out of this."

In the first half, Dan Carpenter scored the first goal of the contest in the 33rd minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into intermission. In the first 45 minutes, Reinhardt outshot the Bulldogs 4-2.

In the second half, UC evened things up in the 76th minute, as Jonathan Watson scored his fifth goal of the season to tie the match at 1. Freshman Cole Bray was credited with an assist on the play, his fourth of the season.

From there, both teams failed to score over the final 14 minutes of regulation, and the match went into overtime. In the first overtime period, the defense's continue to control, as no shots were taken in the period.

In the second OT, Reinhardt won the match with Dudson's goal one minute into the period (101st minute). Ironically, Dudson's shot was the only one taken in the entire overtime period.

Overall, Union and Reinhardt each took eight shots from the field on the night, with RU holding a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they host Bryan (Tenn.) in another AAC tilt. Kickoff from Burch/Nau Field is set for 4 p.m.
