JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Union College cycling team opened their 2012 season this past weekend at the East Tennessee State Race, and the Bulldogs posted some impressive finishes to kick off their campaign.

Things began in the downhill, where Wesley Lamberson led the men's squad with a fourth place finish in the Men's "A" race with a time of 1:26. Kara Uhl led the women's team in that side of the "A" race with a seventh place finish, while Mary Martinez placed 13th.

Next in the short track, Mike Baird was 15th in the race, while Raymond Dangelmaier was 21st. On the women's side of the short track, Uhl finished eighth in the "A" portion of the race, followed by Martinez in 12th. In the "B" women's race, Brittany Boswell finished fifth, while Kassie Patterson was sixth.

In the cross country portion of the meet, Union coach Peter Haile had the team's highest finish, placing seventh, followed by Baird in 19th, and Dangelmaier in 22nd. In the women's "A" cross country, Uhl was eighth, while in "B" portion of the race, Boswell was fifth.

The race was finished off with the four cross, where Uhl registered the lone win of the weekend for Union in the Women's "A" 4X. Lamberson had the highest finish for the men's team in the event, placing fifth.
