MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Bethel's (Tenn.) Rachel Rathbone scored twice, leading the Wildcats to a 4-1 win over the Union College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-1 on the year, while Bethel improved to 4-1 overall with the victory.

In the first half, the match was scoreless throughout most of the period, as UC goalie Stephanie Burton kept the team in the game after making four saves in between the pipes. Bethel, however, finally cracked the scoreboard in the 39th minute on Rathbone's first goal, making the score 1-0 going into intermission.

In the second period, it was all Bethel, as the Wildcats scored three straight goals to go up 4-0. In the 67th minute, the Lady Bulldogs finally got on the board, as Aline Dalmedico scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, to cut the UC deficit to three.

But, the lead was too much for the Lady Bulldogs to come back from, as Bethel coasted down the stretch to take the win.

Overall, Bethel outshot Union 19-11 in the match, while UC held a 4-3 advantage on corner kicks. Burton ended the day making 10 saves, six of which came in the second half.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the pitch on Wednesday, when they open AAC play against Virginia Intermont at Burch/Nau Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
