GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Union volleyball team had a rough go of it Friday as it dropped both of its matches in the Rumpke Invitational, losing 3-1 to Shawnee State (Ohio) and 3-0 to host Georgetown (Ky.).

The losses drop the Lady Bulldogs to 3-7 on the year.

In the opener, Union took the first set 25-21 for the early advantage. However, the Lady Bears regrouped to win the next three frames 25-17, 25-17, 25-22 for the win.

Georgetown set the tone early and powered its way to 25-6, 25-17, 25-13 sweep. Caity Merritt led Union with six kills, while Gabrielle Kelly had 13 digs.

Union returns to action Tuesday when it pays Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Milligan (Tenn.) a visit. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
