SHARONVILLE, Ohio - Union College junior forward Sofie Jorgensen scored three goals, pacing the Lady Bulldog women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Ohio Mid-Western on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs moved to 2-0 on the season.

In the first period, Union got off to a quick start in the eighth minute, as Jorgensen scored her first goal of the match, unassisted. She scored the goal after beating the Ohio Mid-Western goalkeeper on a one-on-one play to make it 1-0 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.
At the 13 minute mark, Union made it 2-0 on a goal by sophomore Aline Dalmedico, which was the first of her Union career. The goal was knocked in by Dalmedico on a cross.
In the 18th minute, the game was delayed for almost an hour due to band of severe weather hitting the area. Once the game kicked back off, Jorgensen picked up where she left off, ending the half with another goal in the 40th minute to make it 3-0 UC as the match went into intermission. Senior Jenn Sckirl was credited with the assist on the late first half goal.
In the second half, Ohio Mid-Western finally got on the board in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1, but it was too little, too late for the home side. Jorgensen completed the hat trick on the final score of the afternoon in the 75th minute on a penalty kick, as the Lady Bulldogs coasted to the three goal victory.
With the hat trick, Jorgensen has now scored four of the five goals UC has netted in the first two matches of the season. The hat trick was also the second of her career, as she accomplished the feat in a 5-2 win over Cumberlands (Ky.) last season.
In net, goalie Stephanie Burton went the distance, making eight saves in 90 minutes of work.
The Lady Bulldogs return to the pitch on Saturday, when they travel to Bethel (Tenn.) for another out-of-conference contest. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
