ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College men's soccer players Jonathan Watson and Madison Justice were selected as the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Sept. 2. The league announced the selections on Monday.

The duo led the Bulldogs to an undefeated weekend at the Georgetown (Ky.) Classic, as UC downed Ohio Christian, 2-0, on Friday, and Huntington (Ind.), 4-1, on Saturday.
Watson, a sophomore midfielder, was the leader on offense, scoring four goals in two matches.
He scored both of Union's goals in the 2-0 win over Ohio Christian, then followed that up with another two goal performance against Huntington. The goals broke a 1-1 first half tie, and catapulted the Bulldogs to a dominating three-goal victory.
Justice, a sophomore goalie, bounced back from a tough first weekend of the season to pace the Bulldog defensive unit. On Friday, Justice helped the Bulldogs earn their first victory of the season in shutout fashion, making a save in over 68 minutes in net.
Watson followed up that performance with another solid match in between the pipes on Saturday versus Huntington, giving up just one first half goal in 90 minutes of work. In all, Watson made three saves in the contest, two of which came in the second half of play.
The Bulldogs return to the pitch on Sept. 12 when they open AAC play against Virginia Intermont at home. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Burch/Nau Field.
