BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Emmanuel (Ga.) forward Jonathan Faile scored twice, pacing the Lions to a 3-0 victory over the Union College men's soccer team on Friday afternoon at Burch/Nau Field. The match was a part of the 2012 Bulldog Classic, and was the 2012 season opener for both squads.

In the first half, Union held strong on the defensive end, despite giving up a goal by Faile in the 15th minute. At the end of the first 45 minutes, Emmanuel held on to just a 1-0 lead, as UC goalie Madison Justice made two saves to keep the Bulldogs in reach.
In the second half, however, Emmanuel put the match away with goals in the 61st and 67th minute to go up three. Faile scored the go-ahead goal, while Lewis Martin scored the third and final goal. The deficit proved too much for the young Bulldogs to handle, as Emmanuel coasted down the stretch for the season opening victory.
Overall, UC's Joe Butcher and Dawson Marcum each took two shots in the match, as both of Butcher's shots were on goal. EC goalie Anel Lillic, however, stopped both of Butcher's shots, and ended up recording three saves on the day to pick up the shutout win.
In the second game of the afternoon at the Bulldog Classic, No. 17 Belhaven (Miss.) blanked Georgetown (Ky.) in dominating fashion, 6-0.
The Bulldogs (0-1) are back in action tomorrow afternoon, as they wrap up play in the Bulldog Classic with a contest against Belhaven. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. Georgetown and Emmanuel is set to follow at 2:30 p.m.
