BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union women's basketball team recorded another achievement to add to the Lady Bulldogs' remarkable 2011-12 season as they were named to the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team NAIA Honor Roll for the 2011-12 season, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.

Union ranks 10th overall with a team grade-point average of 3.476. 

Three-time NAIA Division II national champion Northwestern College (Iowa) makes its ninth appearance and first atop the NAIA honor roll with a 3.657 team GPA. The Raiders, under the direction of first-year head coach Chris Yaw, finished their championship season with a 28-7 record.

Seventeen of the top 25 teams - seven in NAIA Division I and 10 in NAIA Division II - earned berths in the NAIA national tournaments in their respective divisions.

The Lady Bulldogs are one of those teams which earned a berth to the NAIA national tournament, winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament to make their fourth trip in program history. Union ended the year 25-8 overall and went 13-5 in conference play to finish second. The Lady Bulldogs made regular appearances in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, ending the year ranked 25th.
