BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College head men's soccer coach Tyler Brock has announced that Juan Gallegos, a native of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, has signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Bulldog soccer program in August.

Gallegos, a goal keeper, comes to Union from Danville Community College in Danville, Va., and will have junior eligibility when he joins the team in a few weeks.

"Juan is going to be a great addition to our program," said Gallegos. "We currently only have two goalkeeper on the roster,  so bringing in someone who already has college experience is big for us. Juan is very athletic. He has the ability to put himself in good positioning to make the big saves when it calls for them."

At Danville C.C., Gallegos played for the last two seasons, serving as the team's primary goalie. In 2010, he allowed just four goals in 15 matches played, making 53 saves in the process, while in 2011, he stopped 68 saves in 19 matches played.

In his native Bolivia, Gallegos clubbed with Blooming Club, leading that team to the 2009 Bolivian National Tournament, where he was named Finals MVP.

Gallegos plans to major in international business at Union College. The Bulldogs kick off their 2012 season on Aug. 24, when they host Emmanuel (Ga.) at Burch/Nau Field as part of the 2012 Bulldog Classic.
