ROME, Ga. - The Union women's golf team finished the Rome News-Tribune Invitational strong to place eighth on Tuesday, while the men's team posted an 11th-place finish.
The Lady Bulldogs shot three strokes better during the second round to compile a two-day score of 701, five back of seventh-placed Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.). Lee (Tenn.) took the top spot in the 13-team field with a final tally of 620.
Kayla Horn (London, Ky.) and Brittany Zins (Cincinnati, Ohio) led Union as they tied for 31st with a two-day score of 172. Katie Nusz (Mount Washington, Ky.) tied for 45th overall with a 179.
The Bulldogs were eighth after the opening round, but they a 319 and dropped three spots to finish 11th with a 625. Millsaps (Miss.) posted a 621 to come in 10th. Cumberlands won the 20-team field with a 586.
Josh Dyer (Lexington, Ky.) paced Union with a 21st-place finish as he fired a 150.
The Union squads return to action March 12-13 at the Montreat (N.C.) Spring Invitational.
