DAYTON, Tenn. -- Union College center Josh Hurd scored a game-high 14 points, but it wasn't enough, as Bryan (Tenn.) pulled away late from the Bulldogs, 66-57, on Saturday evening in Appalachian Athletic Conference men's basketball action. The contest was the regular season finale for both.

With the loss, UC finished the regular year with an 8-22 overall mark, 5-11 in the AAC, while Bryan finished 13-17, and 8-8 in the AAC with the victory.

In the first half, Bryan went into the locker room with a 28-22 lead in a half dominated by defense. The Lions raced out to an early 10-point lead in the period (15-5), and never looked back the rest of the period.

To start the second half, Union made a comeback to tie the game up at 35-all with 14 minutes left. The lead swung back-and-forth over the next couple of minutes, but as the game went under the 10-minute mark, Bryan went on a back-breaking run that gave them an 11-point (53-42) lead with 6:42 left.

The lead proved too much for UC to come back from, although they didn't go out without a fight, as they cut the Bryan lead all the way down to three points (60-57) with 30 seconds left. But, it was too little to late for the Bulldogs, as Bryan salted the game away at the free throw line down the stretch to clinch the win.

Overall, Hurd led the way once again to UC with his 14-point night (on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor), while snatching five rebounds. The only other double-digit scorer on the night for the Bulldogs was Ian Davis, who finished with 12 points.

Bryan was led in the win by Dion Fair, who ended with 12 points.

Union now awaits who they will draw in the first round of the 2012 AAC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday evening. Stay tuned to for more information on the tournament as it becomes available.
