BRISTOL, Tenn. – The 2007 season came to an end for the Union College volleyball team Saturday at the NAIA Region XII Tournament, played at King College in Bristol, Tenn. The Lady Bulldogs lost a semifinal contest, 3-2, against Bryan (Tenn.) College. 

Union, the no. 3 seed, took the first game, 31-29, only to see Bryan, the second seed, tie the match with a 30-19 decision in the second game. The Lady Bulldogs regained control with a 30-28 third-game victory, but Bryan took the next two games, 30-23 and 15-8, to advance.

The Lady Bulldogs end the season with a 34-15 overall record, a new school record for most victories in a season.

Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) added to her single-season kills record with 19 in the match. She ended the season with 601 kills. She totaled 36 kills in two tournament matches en route to a spot on the All-Region XII tournament team to go with her All-Region XII first-team nod. Deena O’Hare (Perry, Canada) added 13 kills for Union.

Christina Prindle (Florence, Ky.) recorded 42 assists while Tracie Phillips (Bowling Green, Ky.) was credited with 24 digs.

Bryan faced UVa-Wise in the Region XII Championship match after UVa-Wise, the no. 5 seed, upset top-seeded King, 3-2. In the championship contest, UVa-Wise captured the title with another 3-2 win, the third straight win over a higher seed in the tournament. UVa-Wise will move on to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
