EAST POINT, Ga. - Junior Lindsey Waters scored a team-high 23 points and set the single-season blocked shots record as No. 25 Union registered a 78-56 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over host Point (Ga.) on Wednesday.

Waters (Stearns, Ky.) had only one block, but it was enough to make the school record hers as she now has 74 on the year. Brooke Smith set the bar at 73 blocks during the 2009-10 season.

With the win, Union improves to 21-7 overall and 12-5 in the AAC. Point is now 7-19 overall and 1-16 in conference play.

Play was tight for much of the first half, but Union used a 15-5 run to close out the period to turn a one-point deficit into a 30-21 halftime advantage. The Lady Bulldogs continued the hot play in the second half, opening up a 20-point cushion and eventually led by as much as 30 en route to the 78-56 decision.

After Waters, Alyson Roberts (Baxter, Tenn.) paced Union with 18 points and four assists, while Brooke Hill (Sparta, Ky.) came off the bench to post a season-high 14 points.

Chauntel Herrod was the lone Skyhawk to score in double figures as she finished with 25.

Union closes out the regular-season Saturday at Bryan (Tenn.). Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
