MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - A 13-4 rally to close the game sent host Milligan (Tenn.) past No. 19 Union in Appalachian Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.

The loss is the Lady Bulldogs' third in their last four games, dropping them to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. The Buffaloes improve to 11-7 overall and 3-3 in the AAC.

With 3:38 left, Lindsey Waters (Stearns, Ky.) hit 1-of-2 free throws to put Union up 45-40. Milligan responded by scoring seven of the next nine points, tying the game at 47-47 at the 1:44 mark when Dorian Freeman scored on a putback.

The Buffaloes connected on four of its next six free throw attempts to take a 51-47 lead with 40 seconds left. Waters made it a two-point game with 32 seconds remaining. Milligan added two more free throws to seal the 53-49 victory.

Waters paced Union with 25 points with Kara Pile (Fairdale, Ky.) followed with 11.

For Milligan, Freeman led the way with 11 points, while Alisha Mainer chipped in 10.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 33.9 percent from the field and made only 1 of 9 from 3-point range. The Buffaloes did not shoot any better, hitting 27.0 percent of their shots from the floor and went 3 for 14 from long range. However, Milligan outrebounded Union 50-33, including an 18-4 edge on the offensive glass.

Union returns to action Saturday at Columbia (S.C.) in another conference showdown. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
