BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Sydney Smith of Greensburg, Ky., will bring her talents to Union as she recently committed to play for the Lady Bulldogs next season, Union head women's golf coach Eric Wyrick announced.

Smith has been on Wyrick's radar for some time now, especially after having Green County High School to the 2009 KHSAA State Championship.

"Sydney is a player that we have watched for the past two years," said Wyrick. "We are excited to add her to our program as we know she will be a great benefit to us on the course and in the classroom.

"She has had a great high school career as she was a member of the KHSAA state runner up team this past year and a member of the Class A State Championship team," continued the Lady Bulldog coach. "Sydney was also a member of the 2009 KHSAA State Championship team. She is certainly going to be a solid addition and we look for her to help lead us to championships in the years to come."

The Lady Bulldogs won the Fall Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament and will begin the spring season on March 5-6 at the Rome-News Tribune Invitational in Rome, Ga.
