BABSON PARK, Fla. -- Union's James Strange scored a team-high 14 points, but it wasn't enough, as Webber International hung on for an 81-75 win Friday evening in NAIA Men's Basketball action. The game was a part of the 2011 Crooked Creek Classic.

With the loss, Union fell to 3-11 on the season, while Webber International improved to 3-4 on the year with the victory.

In the first half, Union came out and controlled things from the start, taking an early lead and holding it for the majority of the period. The lead, however, was never a large one, as the biggest deficit Webber International faced in the entire period was just five points.

In the last minute of the period, Josh Hurd (Independence, Ky.) knocked down a jumper with 42 seconds left that gave UC 32-28 lead. The Warriors got the last bucket of the period and the game went into the locker room for intermission with Union in the lead at 32-30.

In the second half, the momentum flipped to Webber International's side right from the start. The Warriors opened the half knocking down a three that gave them their first lead since early in the first half, and eventually went on an 8-0 run to start the half to take a 38-32 lead.

UC, however, came back to tie the game up on two separate occasions, and with 12:56 left, the Bulldogs had comeback to knot the score up at 46, apiece, after a Hurd jumper.

It was here that the Warriors went on a back-breaking 11-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 57-46 lead with 11:14 left.

The lead turned out to be too much of a deficit for the Bulldogs to come back from, but they didn't go out without making a fight. Down 11 with 7:48 left (66-55), UC went on one last frantic run (13-3) over a four minute span to get the deficit all the way down to one point (69-68) with 3:38 left after a Ryan Young (Waynesburg, Ky.) jumper.

The Bulldogs, however, could never get the lead back, as they made some critical mistakes down the stretch that the Warriors converted to points. In the final seconds, Webber International clinched the game at the foul line, going on take a hard fought six-point win at home.

Overall, six UC players scored in double-digits on the night, led by Strange's (Pineville, Ky.) 14-point night.

Cody Miller (Barbourville, Ky.) and Young each scored 12 points on the night, while Young dished out five assists. Stuart Stamper (Hindman, Ky.) had 11 points, while Josh Smith (Corbin, Ky) and Hurd scored 10 points, apiece, to round out the double-digit scorers on the night for the Bulldogs. Hurd also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in a losing effort.

Webber International was led by David Swan, who had a game-high 18 points to lead four Warriors who scored in double-digits on the night in the win.
