BLUEFIELD, Va. - Lindsey Waterspoured in a season-high 27 points and Amber Tayloradded 18 points and eight rebounds to help lead Union past Bluefield (Va.) 72-69 on Wednesday in Appalachian Athletic Conference action.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs are 6-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Rams are 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the AAC.

Union led 39-30 at the half, but Bluefield rallied and owned a 67-60 lead with 4:05 left after a Takieya Rouse basket. The Lady Bulldogs pieced together an 8-0 run to take a 68-67 lead following a Waters (Stearns, Ky.) free throw with 1:48 remaining.

Rouse put Bluefield back up one with 1:22 to play, but Union scored the final four points of the game to escape with the 72-69 decision. Waters scored with 1:08 left to put Union ahead 70-69, and Kara Pile (Fairdale, Ky.) added a pair of free throws with 13 seconds on the clock to seal the win.

Waters hit 10-of-16 shots from the floor in recording her game-high 27 points. Taylor grabbed eight rebounds to go with her 18 points. Laura Perkins (Myra, Ky.) also scored in double figures, finishing the game with 10 points.

For Bluefield, Rouse set the tone with 23 points with Antonia Cataldi chipping in 12.

Union returns home Saturday to host No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan in another AAC showdown. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
