BEREA, Ky. - Union notched its third win in a row with a 67-51 decision over host Berea (Ky.) in the Berea Pepsi Classic on Friday.

Junior transfer Lindsey Waters (Stearns, Ky.) continued her hot play with a 22-point, nine-rebound performance. Waters hit eight of her 15 shots from the floor.

With the win, Union improves to 3-1 overall. Berea falls to 0-7 after the loss.

Play was tight and slow going early on as Union held a 13-11 edge with 7:39 left in the first half. However, the Lady Bulldogs closed out the period on an 18-4 rally to open up a 31-15 halftime cushion. Waters had seven point during the run with Brooke Hill (Sparta, Ky.) chipped in five.

Union led by as much as 19 points during the second half, but Berea tried to mount a comeback. K-osha Puenta sank a pair of free throws to pull Berea within 55-47 with 3:52 remaining. Yet it wasn't enough as Union ended the game on a 10-4 surge to secure the 16-point victory.

After Waters, Amber Taylor (Clinton, Tenn.) followed with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Union narrowly won the battle on the boards, outrebounding Berea 51-49.

Emily Hinkson paced Berea with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Union returns to action Saturday against Alice Lloyd (Ky.), marking the third time in eight days the two teams will face one another. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
