WALESKA, Ga. - Union collected the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship on Saturday thanks to a 3-0 sweep at Reinhardt (Ga.).

The Lady Bulldogs end the regular-season with a 17-15 overall record and 14-2 league mark, finishing a game better than Bryan (Tenn.) and Montreat (N.C.) which both finished with identical 13-3 conference records.

The regular-season conference crown is the third in program history with Union also winning it in 2007 and 2009. The Lady Bulldogs will enter the AAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed as they look to win their third tournament championship in a row.

The AAC Tournament is set to begin Wednesday in Kingsport, Tenn., with the championship match slated for Friday.

Against Reinhardt, Union took the first two sets by the scores of 25-17 and 25-20. But in the third frame, the Lady Bulldogs put the clamps down and seized the opportunity to lock up the championship as they won 25-8, completing the sweep.

Cat Neumann (Louisville, Ky.) led Union with 12 kills as she posted a .407 hitting percentage. Lauren McMillan (Corbin, Ky.) and Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) each had five kills with Cantrell also posting five block assists. Caity Merritt (Abingdon, Va.) chipped in four kills and four block assists, and Kalia Yasak (Kula, Hawaii) recorded 32 assists.

In all, Union recorded nine team blocks. This is the 11th sweep victory by the Lady Bulldogs this season, but only three of those sweeps have come on the road.
