BUENA VISTA, Va. -- Union College's Ian Davis scored a game-high 23 points, but it wasn't enough, as Lindsey Wilson pulled away late to take a 71-66 win over the Bulldogs in NAIA men's basketball action on Saturday. The game was apart of the 2011 Knights Fall Classic played at Southern Virginia.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 0-3 on the year, while Lindsey Wilson improved to 3-0 with the win. The victory was also the second this week for the Blue Raiders against the Bulldogs, as they beat UC at home on Tuesday night, 78-59.

Union took their first lead of the afternoon shortly after, on a Davis (Cherry Hill, N.J.) layup, at 20-18. LWC quickly tied the game back up, and for the remainder of the period, the game continued to be a nip and tuck affair.

As the half wore down, Lindsey Wilson scored the final four points of the period it the final seconds to take a 34-30 lead going into the half.

In the second half, LWC scored the first two buckets of the period to take a 38-30 lead. Union, however, roared back and tied the game up a 44-all with 13 minutes left after James Strange (Pineville, Ky.) knocked down a pair of free throws. LWC took the lead back moments later on a three-pointer, but Union continued to keep it close, as the Blue Raiders held a 49-48 lead with 11 minutes left.

Over the next seven minutes, however, Lindsey Wilson went on a 14-6 run to take a 65-54 lead with 3:24 left, effectively putting the game out of Union's reach. The Bulldogs got the lead down to four with four seconds left after a Davis three, but it was too little, too late, as the Blue Raiders took the five-point win.

Overall for Union, Davis scored his game-high 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field on the afternoon.
