ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The Union College softball team is slated to finish third according to the 2012 Appalachian Athletic Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, which was released Monday.

Reinhardt, who was both the 2011 Regular Season and Tournament champion in the AAC, is picked to finish first once again in the league, as the Lady Eagles received eight of the 10 first place votes in the poll, tallying 80 total points. 

Milligan lands in second with 69 points, while the Lady Bulldogs are in third after garnering 55 points, and the remaining two first place votes. 

Virginia Intermont is fourth with 52 points with Tennessee Wesleyan fifth with 50 points. Montreat (N.C.) is sixth with 48 points, Columbia (S.C.) seventh with 36, Bryan (Tenn.) eighth with 29, Point (Ga.) ninth with 17, and Bluefield (Va.) 10th with 12.

The Lady Bulldogs, who finished last season 23-28 overall, open their 2012 season on Feb. 21 at UVA-Wise. The AAC Tournament is set for April 24-27, 2012, at Domtar Park in Kingsport, Tenn.
