ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Sophomore Sofie Jorgensen has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 30, the league announced on Monday.

Jorgensen (Oksbol, Denmark), a forward, earns the award after netting the game-winning goal in overtime in Union's 3-2 win at Columbia on Saturday. The score came two minute into into first overtime, and was the third game-winner of the season for Jorgensen. She also recorded an assist in the match, as well.

On the year, Jorgensen has led the Lady Bulldogs on offense, scoring a team-high 13 goals, adding three assists, for a 29 point total for the year. She ends the regular season as the AAC leader in points per game (2.07) and goals per game (0.93), and is tied for the league lead in goals scored. 

Jorgensen and the rest of the Lady Bulldogs, who finished the year 9-7 overall, host Montreat in the quarterfinals of the 2011 AAC Women's Soccer Tournament this weekend. Date and time for the match have yet to be announced.
