ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union is picked to finish fourth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, according to the 2011-12 AAC Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Poll released Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs ended the 2010-11 season with a 17-13 overall record and went 7-7 in the AAC to end the year fourth. Union garnered 68 total points to land fourth in the poll.

Tennessee Wesleyan is the team to beat, collecting eight of the possible 10 first-place votes and garnered 97 points to land atop the poll. Milligan (Tenn.) is second with 85 points with Montreat (N.C.) third at 80. Union (Ky.) is fourth at 68, Reinhardt (Ga.) fifth at 53, and Virginia Interment sixth at 52. Bluefield (Va.) landed seventh at 50 with Bryan (Tenn.) eighth at 29, Columbia (S.C.) ninth at 22 and Point (Ga.) 10th at 14.

Montreat and Virginia Intermont each received a first-place vote.

The Lady Bulldogs open the season Nov. 11-12 at the Tennessee Wesleyan Classic. Union's first home game is Nov. 26 against Berea (Ky.).

The 2012 AAC Tournament is set for Feb. 20-27 with the higher seeds hosting each round.
