BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Michael Viscardi qualified for another NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championship event Saturday as Union College hosted Milligan (Tenn.) College in the Bulldogs’ first home meet of the season.

Viscardi (Marietta, Ga.) posted a time of 2 minutes and 21.59 seconds in the 200-yard breaststroke for an A cut and a new school record. He adds to the A cut in the 100 breaststroke with a B cut in the 200 freestyle he earned earlier in the season.

Colin McEachran (Blenheim, Canada) also added his name to the Union record book twice. The first time was when he completed the 1,650 freestyle in 19:30.53 and other was in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:14.31.

Another record fell when the 400 medley relay team of Corbin Melton (Barbourville, Ky.), Jeremiah Back (Flatgap, Ky.), Adam Woodward (Hopkinsville, Ky.) and Viscardi swam a 4:07.75. They shaved four seconds off the previous record.

“Our guys are on the right track,” said head coach Rafael Forti. “Their marks continued to improve and they will be obtaining their cuts individually and on relays very soon.”

Union (3-3 overall) handed the Aqua Buffs of Milligan a 54-29 defeat in the team results.

Next for Union is another home meet against King (Tenn.) College Wednesday evening at 5 p.m.
