BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College head men's and women's cross country coach Scotty Barnes has announced the team's 2011 slate.

Action will kick off for both teams on Sept. 7th, when they take part in the Queen City Invitational held outside of Cincinnati in Alexandria, Ky. Eight days later, Union will travel to Berea to take part in the their second event of the season, the Berea College Invitational on Sept. 17.

A few weeks later, UC runs at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Oct. 1, before wrapping up the regular season on Oct. 17 at the Wilmington Fall Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.

Union will end their season at the 2011 Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship, which will take place on Nov. 5 in Back Mountain, N.C. The 2011 NAIA Cross Country National Championships will be run on Nov. 19th in Vancouver, Wash. should a Bulldog or Lady Bulldog qualify for the event.

Union will be led this season by Barnes, who enters his first year at the helm of the cross country program. Barnes will also serve as the men's and women's track & field coach UC.

A 2010 graduate with a degree in human performance from Union, Barnes was a member of the track & field program from 2006-10, helping the Bulldogs to the AAC championship in 2009 and 2010.
