BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College softball coach Danny Fish has announced that Aryssa Puckett has signed a letter of intent to join the Lady Bulldog program this fall.

"Aryssa is a very versatile player and can really swing the bat," said Fish. "We expect great things from her."

Puckett joins the Union program after prepping at Central High School in Knoxville, Tenn., where she was a standout for the Bobcats the last few seasons.

In 2011, she has been named to the Knoxville News Sentinel PrepXtra Team, and is on the cusp of breaking the school's all-time record of home runs. In 2010, she was named the Offensive Player of the Year at Central after batting .390, while in 2009, she was named a high school All-American after batting .419, with 35 RBI.

In her career, Puckett has hit over 40 home runs. She has also played on the Knox Fury traveling team, where she batted .418 last season.

Puckett plans to major in biology at Union.
