BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College head cycling coach Chuck Coffey has announced that Kara Uhl has signed a letter of intent to join the Bulldog program this fall.

Uhl, a native of Smithville, Texas, attends Smithville High School where she will graduate this month. She has placed in the top 10 at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships on two separate occasions (2008 and 2010), and was the 2007 Texas State Champion in the 15-18 class.

"I am very excited to get a rider with all the skills that Kara brings to our team," said Coffey. "I think we have signed one of the top female riders in the country. The other thing is that Kara is a true mountain biker not a road biker trying to convert to mountain biking.

"I look forward to coaching Kara and she will add a lot of depth and racing experience to our team."

"Racing is my life," said Uhl.   "It makes me, me, and I'm very happy to be able to continue my racing at Union College."
