KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Union College men's tennis team was awarded an at-large bid into the 2011 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship, the organization announced on Monday. The event will be held from May 17-21 in Mobile, Ala.

The 24-team field is comprised of 12 squads who earned an automatic berth by winning their respective conference/independent/unaffiliated group tournament, 11 at-large selections and one host berth. The nine at-large selections were determined by the final NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll released Monday. Mobile (Ala.) of the Southern States Athletic Conference received the host berth.

The Bulldogs, who finished 17-5 on the season and placed 10th in the final NAIA men's tennis rankings, will make their fifth appearance all-time at the National Championship, where they have posted a 5-5 record previously.  Last season, the Bulldogs defeated Walsh in First Round action at the National Championship, 5-2, before bowing out to Embry-Riddle in the Sweet 16, 5-1.

Union will find out who their first round opponent will be tomorrow, as the bracket and pairings for the 60th annual event will be announced  by 6 p.m. Tuesday.
