BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College volleyball team sets atop the NAIA Region XII ratings for the tenth-straight week, the organization announced Monday, after the Lady Bulldogs clinched the program’s first conference championship on Saturday.

Union went 2-2 last week with the two wins coming in Appalachian Athletic Conference play, over Virginia Intermont College and Covenant (Ga.) College to give the Lady Bulldogs the AAC regular-season crown. Union finished the conference season with at 16-2, one match in front of King (Tenn.) College and Bryan (Tenn.) College. Ironically one of Union’s losses last week came at Bryan, however the Lady Bulldogs were able to go on to clinch the conference. The other blemish on the week came Saturday against No. 21 Campbellsville (Ky.) University. The Lady Bulldogs' overall record is 31-11 after the week.

King and Bryan swapped places this week, with King up to second and Bryan third. Fourth and fifth remain the same from last week’s ratings, UVa-Wise followed by Indiana University Southeast.

Mountain State (W.Va.) University and Covenant share sixth while Montreat (N.C.) College, Brescia (Ky.) University and Milligan (Tenn.) College are eighth to tenth, respectively.

Union returns to action Tuesday at the Asbury (Ky.) College tri-match. First for the Lady Bulldogs is a 5 p.m. contest against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College, No. 10 in Region XI, followed by a match versus Asbury. After Tuesday’s matches, the Lady Bulldogs will turn their sights towards the AAC Tournament set to begin Friday at King.
