BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College freshman James Hager had a career day in Saturday's 50-13 win over West Virginia Tech, and his efforts have netted him Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.

Union improved to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the MSC East following the 37-point win.

Hager (Micanopy, Fla.) tied the school record for field goals made in a game with three, making from 20, 32 and 30 yards away. In all, the 6-foot, 173-pound kicker/punter accounted for 14 of the Bulldogs' 50 points as he also connected on five PATs.

In addition, Hager punted once for 35 yards and completed one pass for 17 yards when Union faked a punt on a fourth down with 13 yards to go.

Hager also served admirably kicking the ball off. He booted the ball 10 times for 584 yards and had two touchbacks.

On the season, Hager leads the team in scoring with 55 points, having made 9 of 16 field-goal attempts and making 28-of-32 PATs. He is averaging 35.5 yards per punt as he has punted 33 times for 1,171 yards with a long of 50 yards and six pinning the opponents inside the 20.

Union will close out its season Saturday as it will pay Georgetown (Ky.) College a visit. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
