BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union locked up its fifth Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship in a row with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Bluefield (Va.) on Monday.

The win improves Union to 15-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play. Bluefield falls to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in the AAC.

The Bulldogs also extended their conference winning streak to 35. Union has not lost to a conference opponent since the 2006 season.

Union dominated Bluefield, losing only three total games. The Bulldogs won the doubles matches by the scores of 8-1, 8-0 and 8-1.

In singles play, Yvon Haessig (Vancouver, Canada), Pierre Vernin (Le Coteau, France), Bartos Micher (Junginen, Germany), Fredrik Graaner (Stavanger, Norway) and Gilles Cornelis (Wijnegem, Belgium) all won their matches by the score of 6-0, 6-0.

The was the final regular-season match for the Bulldogs. Union returns to action at the NAIA Unaffiliated Group Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., on April 28-29 for the right to qualify for the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
