BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union picked up its second win in a row, scoring a 7-2 victory on Monday over visiting Bluefield (Va.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

The win improves Union's record to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while Bluefield falls to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the AAC.

Union won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches. The only points the Lady Bulldogs dropped were the ones they had to forfeit due to being a player short thanks to an injury.

The two double matches Union won were by scores of 8-0 and 8-4.

Diane Proteau (Bussy Saint Georges, France) and Patricia Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil) each posted 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play, while Ximena Aguilar (Morelia, Mexico) and Meredith Dambrus (Louisville, Ky.) each netted 6-0, 6-1 decisions. Marah Rice (Scottsville, Ky.) scored a 6-2, 6-1 win in her match.

This was the final regular-season match for Union. It will next play in the conference tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn., on April 28-29.
